Creators take on Colombia with G Adventures

Exploring Colombia Through Storytelling: A 9-Day Journey With Women Travel Creators

Why We Traveled to Colombia

In 2023, I led a group of inspiring female content creators on a 9-day adventure through Colombia—an experience that blended culture, community, and storytelling in the most transformative way.

Organizing this trip a year into my role at G Adventures, my intention was simple:
Pair meaningful travel with authentic creator-led storytelling to help shift outdated perceptions of Colombia and highlight the beauty, resilience, and spirit of the country.

Curating an all-female group felt essential. Each creator brought a unique background, travel style, and visual perspective—perfect for showcasing Colombia through a truly diverse lens.

Our Itinerary: Colombia Express

A Whirlwind Journey Across Four Incredible Cities

We selected the Colombia Express itinerary—a 9-day G Adventures trip designed to give travelers a taste of several regions in less than two weeks. And honestly? It exceeded every expectation.

📍 Bogotá

A vibrant introduction to Colombian culture, art, and history.

📍 Sevilla & The Coffee Region

One of the most memorable moments was visiting Recuca, a local coffee farm.
Walking through the full journey of the coffee bean—from cultivation to cup—gave us a deeper appreciation for the skill, labor, and love behind one of Colombia’s most iconic exports.

📍 Medellín

A city that embodies resilience and reinvention.

📍 Cartagena

Caribbean heat, colorful streets, coastal energy, and sunsets that felt unreal.

Across each destination, our Chief Experience Officer, Freddy, brought the country to life. Born and raised in Colombia, he wove in local stories, cultural nuance, and historical context that made every experience feel intentional, grounded, and human.

What Makes Colombia a Powerful Destination

A Country Redefining Its Narrative

For years, many travelers viewed Colombia as “too dangerous,” but what we found was something entirely different:

  • Warm, welcoming people
  • Rich cultural traditions
  • Diverse landscapes
  • A spirit of resilience and hope

Colombia is a country rewriting its story—and I wanted our content to contribute to that shift.

The Heart of the Trip: Connection

While the landscapes were stunning and the activities unforgettable, the most meaningful part of the journey was the connection—with the creators, with locals, and with the communities we visited.

What started as a professional partnership evolved into true friendship. Months after returning home, we were still sharing life updates, cheering each other on, and reminiscing about the trip. That’s the power of travel: it shrinks the world in the most beautiful way.

The Impact: Storytelling That Reached Over 1 Million People

How Social Media Helped Shift Perceptions of Colombia

Across all platforms, this campaign generated:

  • 1.17 million+ impressions
  • 12,000+ engagements
  • Nearly 500 individual content pieces
  • Coverage from nine creators + G Adventures
  • Over 600,000 story impressions from G Adventures resharing tagged content
  • A noticeable shift in sentiment among travelers—especially women and LGBTQ+ audiences

What mattered most wasn’t the numbers themselves, but the conversations they sparked:
DMs asking about safety.
Comments expressing surprise and excitement.
Women saying Colombia was finally on their bucket list.

That’s the power of story-first strategy.

Why This Project Means So Much to Me

Storytelling That Connects Us

This trip wasn’t just a campaign—it was a reminder of why I love what I do. Using storytelling to shift narratives, build community, and highlight real human experiences is at the heart of my work.

Colombia showed us that travel is more than movement—it’s meaning.
More than destinations—it’s connection.
More than content—it’s story.

Why I Choose a Plant-Based Life (And Why It’s Not About Perfection)

Why I Choose a Plant-Based Life (And Why It’s Not About Perfection)

A documentary opened my eyes to how deeply our food system impacts the planet, animals, and the people who grow our food. I went vegan overnight, then slowly softened as travel taught me that food isn’t just ethics—it’s culture, identity, and survival. Today, I still choose a plant-based lifestyle, but not from a place of perfection or labels. It’s simply how I opt out of a system built on waste, exploitation, and environmental harm.

This isn’t a call for everyone to “go vegan.” It’s an invitation to rethink the systems that shape what we eat, to explore small shifts that feel accessible, and to recognize that some of the most sustainable choices are also the simplest and cheapest.

It’s about alignment, curiosity, and compassion—for ourselves, for others, and for the planet we all share.

Six Months on the Road Without Ringo

Six months after losing Ringo, I find myself back on the road — same van, same sunsets, just a different co-pilot. Grief, I’m learning, doesn’t fade with time; it simply changes shape.

And somewhere between the stillness and the motion, I can still feel him here.
