Empowering Journeys: Unveiling the Heart of Colombia with G Adventures

Embarking on a 9-day adventure to Colombia with a group of inspiring female content creators was a dream that unfolded into a rich tapestry of cultural exploration, breathtaking landscapes, and profound connections. This journey, which I organized about a year into my role at G Adventures, aimed to pair the potent magic of unique storytelling through content creation with the unparalleled experiences facilitated by G Adventures and its dedicated partners on the ground for travelers around the world. What made it even more special was the decision to curate an all-female group, bringing together content creators of diverse backgrounds, all sharing a focus on solo travel and empowering women in the travel space.

I chose “Colombia Express”, a 9-day itinerary by G Adventures with the goal of giving you a taste of several popular regions of the country in less than 2 weeks. WOW – not only did it accomplish this but it felt like day after day there wasn’t a dull moment. We could have spent the full 9 days in one city and it would have been incredible. So to experience Bogota, Sevilla, Medellin, and Cartagena in 9 days was quite a feat. The itinerary promised a feast for the senses—immersing ourselves in the resurgence of culture, art, diving into the Caribbean vibe in Cartagena, and savoring the Latin-Caribbean fusion of flavors in local cuisine. It was a journey that beckoned us to pack our bags and set off on a whirlwind exploration.

One of the standout experiences that defined our trip was our visit to Recuca, a local coffee farm. Here, we traced the journey of coffee beans from cultivation to the final product, gaining a profound understanding of what it takes to grow some of the best coffee beans in the world. Surrounded by the lush landscapes and the intoxicating aroma of freshly brewed coffee, we connected with the heart of Colombian culture.

Guiding us through this immersive experience was our Chief Experience Officer (CEO), Freddy—a local guide born and raised in Colombia. His deep knowledge and familiarity with the country ensured that we didn’t just skim the surface; instead, we dived deep into the cultural nuances, hidden gems, and local secrets that made our 9-day journey incredibly fun, engaging, and authentically Colombian.

The itinerary was packed to the brim with activities, taking us from the mountainous regions of the country to the tourist-beloved area of Cartagena, where scenic beaches and hot, humid weather created a dreamy destination for those seeking a sunny getaway.

What made our Colombian adventure truly special was the rich culture and history that unfolded before us. Once perceived as too dangerous to visit, Colombia had transformed into a gem in the South American region. Each stop along the way allowed us to witness and appreciate what made this country so unique and special. From vibrant cities to serene coffee farms, every corner revealed a story of resilience, growth, and beauty.

Yet, beyond the landscapes and cultural revelations, the most cherished aspect of this journey was the connections we made together. Whether it was the camaraderie with the on-the-ground team members of G Adventures, especially Freddy, or the profound relationships cultivated with fellow creators, we left Colombia not just as professional acquaintances but as a close-knit group of friends. These connections, sparked by the power of authentic travel, transcended borders, keeping us in touch and sharing life updates even after the adventure had concluded.

In essence, our Colombian journey wasn’t just about exploring a destination; it was about celebrating the unique and beautiful facets of each area of the world. It was a testament to the transformative power of travel—creating connections, fostering understanding, and unveiling the richness that makes every corner of the globe special. As we reminisce about our adventure in Colombia, we carry with us not just memories but a profound appreciation for the authentic connections that make the world feel a little smaller and a lot more interconnected
